Dan Koehler’s book collection grew over many years as an amateur astronomer and guide at Yerkees Observatory.

I vividly recall the first time I met Dan Koehler at the Starlight Festival hosted by Yerkees Observatory. His enthusiasm for astronomy was infectious, and over the years, I had the privilege of witnessing his dedication to the field. His commitment to the vision of advancing space and science education was unwavering, and it was no surprise when he decided to join the board of NWA Space and Science Center as he pursued his master's in museum science.
Dan's impact on our center was profound. His knowledge in museum science contributed to our success, and his insights were invaluable in shaping our plans for exhibits and educational programs. His passing was not just a loss to our organization, but to the entire astronomy community. We were deeply saddened by the unexpected news of his passing, and it left a void that was palpable to us all.

In a touching and heartfelt gesture, Dan's children generously donated his vast collection of astronomy books to us. This thoughtful act not only honored their father's passion for astronomy but also allowed us to establish an astronomy reference library in his name. This library will serve as a beacon of knowledge and inspiration, ensuring that Dan's legacy continues to inspire and educate future generations of astronomers, scientists, and enthusiasts.

Dan Koehler's impact on the NWA Space and Science Center is immeasurable, and we are committed to honoring his memory by continuing to advance the cause that he held so dear. His legacy will live on through the countless individuals whose lives he touched and the generations of stargazers and dreamers who will find inspiration within the pages of the astronomy reference library that bears his name. In memory of Dan Koehler, may we continue to look to the stars with the same passion and dedication that he exemplified, and may his legacy inspire us to reach for the cosmos with unyielding curiosity and wonder.
